SOTF Switch Installation Guide

Switch installations vary by vehicle type, year, and tuner. This guide covers the switches we use, as well as other common brands such as MotorOps and Calibrated Power.

It is suggested for all switch installs to disconnect the battery first.

1. Prepare the switch

Unscrew the retaining nut and remove the lock washer to expose the tabbed washer.

The tabbed washer limits how far the switch can rotate and determines how many tune positions are available. To change the number of available positions, turn the switch fully counter-clockwise, then reposition the tabbed washer so its pin sits in the appropriate hole.

Power levels increase as the switch is turned clockwise. Refer to your original tune order for the number of available positions and their power-level arrangement.

Note: Higher power levels may be intentionally locked out if desired. For example, a work vehicle may only require lower-power towing and daily-driving settings while still benefiting from selectable tuning.

2. Choose and drill the switch mounting location

Choose a suitable mounting location inside the cab where the switch can be easily reached and will not interfere with factory controls, wiring, or components behind the panel. Button blanks and dash panels are common mounting locations, but other suitable locations may also be used.

Use the supplied drilling template to mark and drill the two required holes:

  • 3/8" hole for the switch shaft
  • 1/8" hole for the locating tab

Be sure to drill the 1/8" locating hole and seat the locating tab before tightening the retaining nut. Failure to properly install the locating tab may place unnecessary stress on the switch assembly and could result in damage.

3. Mount the switch

Insert the switch through the panel with the locating tab positioned in the 1/8" hole.

From the front of the panel, install:

  1. Power level indicator
  2. Lock washer
  3. Retaining nut

Tighten the retaining nut securely while keeping the switch and indicator aligned. Install the knob once the switch is secured.

4. Route the switch wiring through the firewall

Locate a suitable rubber firewall grommet and route the switch wiring from the cab into the engine bay.

Use care when passing the terminals through the firewall so they are not bent or damaged.
